TENNIS
At the public meeting held on 16 September 2010 to consider an appropriate action plan to be recommended to Little Munden Parish Council, it was concluded that demand in Dane End is insufficient to consider the creation of a Tennis Club either alone or in conjunction with another local village such as Benington. It was agreed that Watton-at-Stone Tennis Club should be approached with a view to the promoting of their facilities through our Newsletter/Website, thereby making local people aware of the two floodlit courts available for use there through membership of that Club.
Contact has been made with Watton-at-Stone Tennis Club, who have provided the following information for those who may consider playing tennis there.
Annual Membership Subscription
The subscriptions for 2011 are:
Adults £60
Family £90
7-18 Juniors £20
Younger than 7 years free
The club will continue to offer a high standard of support for members in the context of equipment replacement, training additional assistant coaches and coaching generally. The assistant coaches are needed to allow the club to comply with Child Protection guidelines during coaching sessions.
If you have an “under 7” child who will have free membership, please ensure the child’s name is still on a membership form for our records
Social Tennis
Thursday evenings will continue to be the main social tennis occasion and there is also the opportunity for social tennis after coaching on Sunday mornings.
You are reminded that as members of the Tennis Club you have priority over members of the general public at the following times:
Monday 2.00pm to 9.30 pm May to August
9.00am to 1.00 pm September to April
Tuesday 9.00am to 1.00 pm May to August
2.00pm to 9.30 pm September to April (Football priority)
Wednesday 2.00pm to 9.30 pm
Thursday 2.00pm to 9.30 pm
Saturday 2.00pm to 9.30 pm
Sunday 9.00am to 1.00 pm
Coaching
Coaching under the expert guidance of Ian Vosper will again be a feature of our programme – please contact him for further information – 01920 830794
The cost of group coaching will be £7.00 per hour for adults and £4.00 per hour for juniors Charges for any use of floodlights is included. Some coaching for ladies is planned during the day during Term Time. There is the facility for individual coaching if needed, contact Ian Vosper for more information.
Junior Coaching Normally on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons for Juniors and “under 7s”
Adult Coaching 9.00am on Sunday mornings and at 8.30pm on Wednesday evenings
Coaching can be arranged at other times if there is a demand for it.
Child Protection Policy
The club has a Child Protection Officer – Jackie Gear. The Club operates a policy reflecting LTA guidelines on Child Protection matters. If more information is needed please make contact with Jackie on 01920 413625.
