The All Saints’ Open Welcome Appeal

(Please see the bottom for the latest news.)

What's Being Planned?
To create an area in the north-west corner of the church, enclosed by two specially designed glass screens crafted to complement the existing architecture of the church. This area will contain access to a toilet, kitchenette and a small upper meeting room that will have a wide number of uses. Detailed plans are displayed at the back of church. Our aim is to make the church more welcoming:
• Space in the north aisle for small exhibitions, music practice and coffee drinking!
• Facilities that can be used for meetings, concerts or musical performances
• A church that is friendlier to use for the staff and children of the school – whether for special services, curriculum visits or just quiet space.
• Encouraging to use by the clergy and other members of the church and village community during the day
• More comfortable to use for regular services, especially for those who have traveled long distances to weddings, funerals or baptisms, particularly if they have young children.

What Will it Cost?
The good news is that we have already raised over £38,000 simply by asking the church and parish to support this cause. A further £94,000 has been granted from sources outside the community. We have more than 80% of the funds we need, but we must raise another £28,000 to see the job through.

When Will it Happen?
We hope you will agree with us that the church should offer an open welcome for years to come and that by enhancing and improving the church together we can make this happen. Our goal is to begin work in January 2009 and to celebrate completion in the summer.

Major Financial Boost Means All Systems Go!
We are delighted to report that we have been promised a generous grant from Biffa towards the building of our meeting room, kitchen and toilets. The grant means that we can confidently proceed with our planned start date of June 8th, and hope to see the work through to completion by the autumn.

Despite this good news, and the great generosity of local people, we are not letting up on our fundraising efforts, as we will have to equip the new room and kitchen, and as with any building project there may be unforeseen extras on the bill. If you would like to help in any way please contact Rev David Payne on 821390.

Latest July 09:

Work at All Saints
From the beginning of July work will start on the alterations to All Saints that will see the installation of our new toilet and kitchen facilities. This will inevitably mean some disruption in the churchyard as trenches are dug and drains are laid. The work has been carefully scheduled to cause as few problems as possible whilst the school is in use. However, we urge all those using the churchyard during this time to take extra care, keep children under control, and to keep well away from areas that are fenced off. We will endeavour to see that the work is done as quickly and safely as possible, but need everyone else to play their part too.
